In case you haven’t seen our eight billion updates on Twitter and Facebook, we are thrilled to bring you the news that Radioactive, a story of Marie and Pierre Curie by Lauren Redniss, has been selected as the Go Big Read title for UW-Madison next year. I had the wonderful opportunity this spring to serve on the GBR selection committee and have been so excited about this book and all of the programming ideas that it sparks. I have no doubt that the Library as Incubator Project team will come up with some splendid ideas for using this book in libraries large and small, but in the meantime, here are some resources to help you get familiar with the book:
- Lauren Redniss’ page on Radioactive.
- Collaborative exhibition from the New York Public Library and the Parsons The New School for Design.
- Presentation about Radioactive for the National Book Award, 2011.
Can’t wait to see what the next year has in store. Have you used Radioactive to inspire conversations about science and art in your library, art or science classroom, etc.? Can’t wait to hear from you: email libraryasincubatorproject@gmail.com, or connect with us on Twitter (@IArtLibraries) and Facebook. – Laura
