Since starting the Library as Incubator Project, we’ve heard from several artists who have used scientific or medical libraries in their work. That’s why we’re highlighting Wellcome Images today, a collection “with themes ranging from medical and social history to contemporary healthcare and biomedical science,” according to the website.
Wellcome Images, a collection of the Wellcome Library, is easily browsable in galleries and highlighted collections, and both historical and contemporary images can also be searched by keyword and through an advanced search function. Images range from the beautiful to the strange, and are fascinating to browse.
Have you used Wellcome Images in your work as a librarian or artist? Have you come across any particularly interesting finds in this collection? What other sources do you use for medical and scientific images? Please share with us!
