The day is here!  We at Library as Incubator are OVERJOYED to finally bring you… the Teen Read Week™ Art Contest!!!  Below are many of the entries we received over the last few months – these teens bowled us over by their response!

Contestants were asked to create a work of art inspired by a book and send us a digital image or photograph.  The e-mail had to include their name, their public or school library, and the title of the book that inspired their art.  To make sure their work was truly original, the phrase “I affirm that this is an original piece of artwork” had to be there too.

Since this was the first year of our TRW Art Contest, we erred on the side of inclusion.  There are a lot of drawings, a few canvas paintings, some 3D art, and even some digital stories (from Australia!  AUSTRALIA!!).  We love the variety showcased here, in format and in artistic level.  Some artists are just beginning their teenage years, while others are on the verge of adulthood.  A lot of great librarians, art teachers, and parents helped these teens to show us their work, and we say a huge and resounding THANK YOU to all of you for supporting teen reading!

A reminder of what’s at stake: from the outcome of this voting gallery, we will name a winner who will receive:

  • $50 Amazon giftcard
  • Original art from The Real Fauxtographer
  • Library as Incubator Project t-shirts
  • Signed books from hot YA authors

Special thanks to authors Gennifer AlbinBethany GriffinBeth Revis, and Veronica Roth, who generously donated signed copies of their books as prizes.

Choose your favorite piece of art and follow the link below the gallery to vote.  Please vote only once.  You have a week – voting closes at midnight on Saturday, October 20th!  The winner and his or her librarian/art teacher will then be contacted and featured on our site soon after.  Watch here for the announcement!
